Heat Pump Drying Boletus Mushroom is a new technology with good quality and energy saving, refers to traditional drying. While a few species are toxic or bitter and thus inedible, most varieties are safe for consumption. The primary types include white, yellow, and black boletus.

White Boletus Characteristics

White boletus is renowned worldwide for its delicious taste and nutritional richness. It features a large fruiting body, thick flesh, and a sturdy stem, offering a sweet and savory flavor. In Western Europe, it is widely consumed fresh or processed into dried slices, small seasoning packets, soup bases, soy sauce extracts, or salted preserves.

Drying Process of Heat Pump Drying Boletus Mushroom

  1. Preparation: Fresh boletus has a moisture content of ~90%. The drying target is 13%, requiring controlling temperatures of 50–65°C with uniform airflow and humidity distribution.
  2. Drying Stages:
    • Stage 1: Heat the drying chamber to 30–40°C with increasing airflow for ~3 hours to remove surface moisture.
    • Stage 2: Raise the temperature to 50–60°C, prioritizing dehumidification with exhaust systems until the target moisture is achieving (~5 hours).
    • Notes:
      • Sliced boletus (3–5mm thick) requires 8–10 hours.
      • Whole boletus (size-dependent) takes 21–26 hours.
        Post-drying, quality inspection precedes packaging and storage for sale.

Distribution

Boletus thrives in Pinus yunnanensis, P. densata, Quercus (locally called “Ma Biao Xiang”), and mixed forests, often forming mycorrhizae with oak and pine roots. It grows solitarily or in clusters from June to October, appearing earlier in warm regions and later in cooler high-altitude areas. Distributed across Yunnan, China, with minor presence in Kashgar.

Advantages

Rich in protein, carbohydrates, vitamins, and minerals (e.g., calcium, phosphorus, iron), boletus enhances physical health and shows notable efficacy in managing diabetes.

Disadvantages

During the rainy summer peak season, high moisture content makes preservation challenging. Thus, most are drying into shelf-stable products, which yield higher economic value.
